March 2, 1998 Dear Family and Friends,
Our Beloved Husband and Father, Donald Raymond Marlar, died on February 27, 1998 after a brief illness. In accordance with his wishes, he was buried the following day and graveside services were held at Maple Hill Cemetery. As those who knew Don are surely aware, he was an intelligent, uniquely independent man who had a positive impact on all of those whose lives he touched. He became a Father Figure to friends of his children and many members of his extended family. To be sure, Don was never reticent about expressing his opinions; hehad an opinion (which he frequently shared) about nearly everything! Don was a loyal, honest, hard-working, decent man who loved his family above all else. He lived his life just the way he wanted to and he always did just what he said he would do. When Don Marlar said that he would do something, you could bank on it being done. Throughout most of his 81 years, Don was a healthy, vigorous man and we are grateful for that. On Valentines Day, he became extremely ill but refused medical care of any kind and refused to leave the home. Early Sunday morning, after helost consciousness, he was rushed to Shawnee Mission Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery to repair a ruptured aneurysm in the main artery leading into his stomach. After the operation, doctors were optimistic about his chances for recovery. Unfortunately, as a result of post-surgical complications, he passed away twelve days later. At the time of his passing, his wife and children were at his bedside. Don will always be alive in his son, daughter and granddaughter, and in the hearts and minds of those who knew him well. His was a life to be celebrated!

In Fond Remembrance
Virginia Marlar, Mary Marlar, Don Marlar, Jr.
