OBITUARY: Nels H. Nelson, 1896-1958, Worth County, Iowa Nels H. Nelson Nels H. Nelson (61) local farmer, living northeast of Joice, died June 22, 1958 at his farm home. He was born August 23, 1896 near Northwood to Hans Nelson Degn and Anna Peterson. At one and one-half years, the family moved back to Denmark where they lived until Nels was seven years of age. He has lived in Worth Co. since. He married Alice Halvorson on June 28, 1922, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christ Halvorson. He was active in the community and in Bristol Lutheran Church. He served as custodian of Bristol Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Hans, Alfred and Henning. He is survived by his wife; two sons, VeRone of U.S. Navy and Dennis of Joice; two grandchildren Debra and Durene, Joice; three brothers, Einar and Roy, Austin, MN; Johanes, Mason City and Paul, Kensett; a sister, Mrs. Carl (Clara) Myhre, Kensett. The funeral was held at Bristol Church, with the Rev. Harvey Gilbertson officiating. (Graphic 6-25-1958).
