(Research):Robert Keith Denison (1926 - 2010)

Robert Keith Denison 1926 - 2010 It is with great sadness that we say farewell to Robert Keith Denison. He died on Friday, April 9, 2010. Known as Bob to friends and family, he and his wife, Annie, had lived in Bakersfield for 46 years. Born and raised in the Midwest, Bob enlisted in the Army during World War II and during active duty was stationed in Hawaii. After the war Bob adopted Hawaii as his home where he met and married Annie. They have two children. For most of Bob's working life he was employed by New York Life Insurance Company. His career brought him and his family from Hawaii to San Francisco and to Bakersfield. For another 15 years Bob was an administrator for Kern County. He proudly served in the National Guard, retiring with the rank of Sergeant Major. In his retirement Bob volunteered his time at Kern Medical Center, working with the premature babies in the NICU. Bob loved to fish and lived for vacations and weekends when he could find a river and drown some worms. One of his greatest pleasures was teaching young people from the neighborhood or church youth group how to catch blue gill and trout. He and Annie loved to travel, and had enjoyed cruising to Alaska andthrough the Pamana Canal. In recent years Bob enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and visited them in California and in Michigan. He leaves a loving family: his wife, son and his wife, daughter and her husband, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A time of recollection and celebration will be held for Bob at the First Congregational Church on Wednesday, April 14, at 6:00 p.m.
