Soren was the son of Ole Sorensen, thus he was Soren Olsen. Soren was born 7 February and christened 14 February 1808 in Høng, Finderup Parish. He was vaccinated for smallpox in 1809 by Pastor Gottlieb. Soren grew up working on farms in Høng. He spent some time in the service and then when he was 24 moved to Gørlev farm and worked for Conrad Krag's widow. Next Soren worked on a farm called Aagaard in Gørlev Parish where he met his future wife, Christiane Margrethe Muxoll. Soren & Christiane worked at Aagaard for another year and a half and on 1 October 1835 they both moved back to Sæby Parish. They were married 5 December 1835 in Sæby Parish with Christiane's father, Fredrik Muxoll (per F. Aasklint was her brother - painter Muxoll), and Soren's brother Anders Olsen as their bondsmen. Between 1835 and 1852 seven children were born to Soren and Christiane. Soon after their marriage Soren was a 'husmand,' that is, he had land. Between the 1845 and 1850 census he gave up farming for awhile and was living in a house with 2 other families. By the 1855 census Ane Cathrine, Ole, and Fredrikke were not living at home. Christiane died 3 October 1868 in Sæbyhoj. Soren later followed his son, Fredrick Vilhelm Sorensen, and emigrated to America in 1872. He died in Storden, Minnesota, in 1894.

Betheen Bean (descendant of Soren's daughter Mette), sent a copy of Soren Olsen's Naturalization papers filed in Cottonwood Co, Minnesota. It states that he was born in Denmark in 1808 and emigrated to the United States in July of 1871. It was signed by Soren on June 26, 1878.
1880 Storden, Cottonwood Co, Minnesota Census - page 43B, Soren was living with his daughter, Mette Kirstine and her husband Peter Hanson and family. Soren is listed as 72 years old, occupation basket weaver, born in Denmark.
Betheen also sent a copy of Soren Olsen's death certificate from Cottonwood Co, Minnesota (Death Register B, Page 91, Line 16). The name listed is 'Sorn Olson', male, white, widowed. Date of death was March 12, 1892, age 84 years, occupation farmer. Cause of death was 'inflamation of Lungs.' Name of father was listed 'Oby Olson' and name of mother was not reported. Date of filing was January 24, 1893.
