According to our family's oral history, Martha Yawman Bolen had a very difficult time, emotionally and psychologically, after her marriage to William Bolen. We were told that she essentially gave up all of her children for adoption to various families in the Parsons, KS area. Although, it appears that she may have kept Helen since she was so young. Helen (12yo) is living with Martha and Edward Bly in 1920 in Wyandotte Co, KS, along with 4 half-siblings, Eddie Bly 8yo, Ernie Bly 6yo, Freddie Bly 5yo, and Edna Bly 4yo.
