Helen Rosalie Bolen was adopted at the age of 2 by William Henry McCoy and his wife Pearl, who were Cherokee up from Oklahoma living in Kansas City, KS. In 1920, however, she was again living with her birth mother Martha Yawman, now married to Edward Bly. The McCoys have disappeared from the census. Helen's brothers and sisters were left with their father, William Bolen, in Parsons, Labette, KS. William Bolen was living with his parents at that time.
