(Medical):On October 16, 1976 he was admitted as an emergency patient at 7:00 p.m. complaining of severe chest pain. He was given emergency treatment for probable heart attack and was cared for by the medical and heart people. His care in the emergency room was the kind given for a bad heart attack, but he did not respond well to the treatment. His blood pressure was very low.

At 7:45 p. m. after this emergency treatment, he was transferred to the Coronoary ICU where further treatment was administered. Very soon thereafter, his heart stopped, his pupils dilated, and he became totally unresponsive and was pronounced dead at 8:10 p. m.

The autopsy the following day showed that his blood vessels to his heart muscle were blocked, 90% in one of the major arteries and 70% in another major one. It is a common thing for people with diabetes to have this kind of hardening of the arteries which undoubtedly caused his heart attack. Death sometimes occurs in a few minutes, sometimes it is much later, but the damage is done when the heart doesn't get enough blood and quits working.
