How unusual to see father and mother placed side by side in the same grave in Goff Cemetery, one half mile south of Calhoun but it is a pleasant thought that they are together in the heavenly land.
Mr and Mrs Richard Herndon died at their home five miles west of Calhoun, she at 8:30 a.m. on Feb 15, 1901 and he at 6:45 a.m. on Feb 16. Each were sick less than a week and their deaths were very sudden.
He was born in Pettis county in 1836 and his parents moved to Henry when he was a small boy. His wife [She] was Sarah [Jane] McFall, born in 1858 in this county and leaves a brother and two sisters, Geo. McFall and Mrs Kate Hodges and Mrs John Larne. Three children: G. Edgar Julius and Anna. He leaves three sisters. Mrs Mary Kemp of Dresden, Mrs Fannie Soister of denver and Mrs Wall of California.
