Jensen Services Are Held Thursday

Funeral services for Mrs. Lila Jensen were held on Thursday afternoon, 1 o'clock at the Keating Mortuary and 2:30 at the Dannevirke Lutheran Church. The Rev. Henry Flessner officiated. Mrs. Dale Johnson, soloist sang 'Whiter Than Snow' and 'In the Garden'. Mrs. Burt Johnson was the pianist and played the prelude and postlude. Serving as pallbearers were neighbors Harlan Jensen, Clifford Pedersen, Albert Pedersen, Leonard Coufal, David Tuma and Alfred Roy/. Burial was in the Dannevirke Cemetery. The Senior Citizen Band members of Grand Island attended in a body (sister Edith was a member). Keating Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

d to Edwin M Jensen at Ord. The couple made their first home in Grand Island. In 1928, they returned to the Dannevirke area and farmed. In 1946, they operated the Dannevirke Store. In 1953, they returned to the farm and farmed until 1970 when they retired and moved into a home in Elba. Mr. Jensen died October 19, 1980 and Mrs Jensen continued to make her home in Elba.

confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the Dannevirke church. She assisted at the birth of many children in the Dannevirke area. She was often called upon to be a foster mother to many children. She was active in her parish having been a member of the Ladies Aid Society. She was a member of the Danish sisterhood and the Elba Senior Citizen group. She had been ill since May and a couple weeks ago entered the hospital in Grand Island where death came to her on Monday evening, September 29th. She was 84 years of age.

Schultz of Grand Island, Mrs. Paul (Anna Mae) Julesgard of Elba and Mrs. Dwight (Oline) of Scotia; 33 grand children; 55 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Edith Felske of Grand Island and Mrs. Clara Christoffersen of Yuma, Arizona; other relatives too numerous to mention and friends.
